Child survives kidnap bid, OPP hunt for suspect

News East West Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are seeking public help in identifying a man who stole a vehicle with a toddler inside it from a gas station in Fergus in southwestern Ontario on Christmas day. The incident happened at about 7pm when the mother of the child left the vehicle unlocked and running while she went into a nearby store to buy something. The suspect got into the vehicle. When witnesses attempted to stop him, he sped away with the baby on Highway 6. OPP later found the vehicle (grey Chevrolet Impala) abandoned on Highway 6. The child was found unharmed. The suspect was caught on surveillance cameras. OPP are seeking public help in identifying him. The suspect is described as Caucasian with a medium build, wearing a black coat over a grey jacket, light coloured pants, black with white running shoes, and a grey beanie style Puma toque. OPP are also looking for an unknown accomplice of the suspect who was driving a white passenger vehicle. READ NEXT: Woman shoplifter throws hot coffee at staff to escape
