Sex assault charges against Peel police officer

MISSISSAUGA: An off-duty Peel Regional Police officer has been charged with sexually assaulting a woman.
The reported incident took place in May 2017 when the woman alleged she was sexually assaulted by 48-year-old Inspector Daniel Johnstone, who was off-duty at that time, in a restaurant in Mississauga.
After the alleged sexual assault was reported to Peel Regional Police, it contacted the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) on Nov 28 last year.
Following the investigation by the SIU, Inspector Daniel Johnstone has been charged with one count of sexual assault.
He will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on April 9.
