News East West NEW YORK: An Indian nurse in California, dubbed by the FBI as the Bombshell Bandit, has been jailed for 66 months for a string of robberies.. Sandeep Kaur, a 24-year-old nurse by profession from Union City in California, went on a two-month robbery spree last year California, Arizona and St George. As part of her modus operandi, bombshell bandit Sandeep Kaur would approach bank tellers, threaten to detonate a bomb if they didn’t hand over their cash, and escape. In her first robbery on June 6 last, Kaur took away $21,200 from the Bank of the West at its its branch in Valencia, California, on June 6. She went on 8-week robbery spree to loot $1,978 from a bank in Lake Havasu City in Arizona, and $8,000 from yet another bank in San Diego. Kaur was captured during her bank robbery attempt at a bank in St. George in July, eight weeks after her crime spree began. She faces up to 20 years in jail and fine of $250,000. According her attorney Jay Winward, Kaur had tough upbringing and an arranged marriage in which she faced physical and emotional abuse. Being educated, she made some money in stocks and this led her to escape from her past by taking up gambling in Las Vegas where she accumulated a huge debt because of her gambling habits. In desperation, the bombshell bandit turned to bank robberies.
