Brampton's Jaspuneet Bajwa faces murder charges for hitting OPP cars

BRAMPTON: Brampton Indo-Canadian Jaspuneet Bajwa and Bhupinder Singh of Mississauga face multiple charges for hitting two police vehicles before crashing their car into a commercial property after failing to stop for HTA violations.

The accident took place when officers of the Toronto Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) signalled the vehicle to stop for Highway Traffic Act (HTA) violations in the area of Jane Street and Falstaff Avenue on Thursday afternoon –  May 26.

The OPP Highway Safety Division says the driver – Jaspuneet Bajwa  – failed to stop the vehicle and damaged two police vehicles before crashing into a commercial property.

Bajwa and passenger Bhupinder Singh were taken into custody and the former was taken to hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Police have charged 34-year-old Bajwa with attempted murder, dangerous driving, obstructing peace officer, possession stolen property over $5000, possessing break and enter instruments, flight from police, and failing to comply with court orders.

Bhupinder Singh, 29, has also been charged with possession of stolen property over $5000 and break-and-enter instruments.
