TORONTO: Beginning this November, Hindi channel ATN-Sony is featuring 14 successful immigrants of south Asian origin who have made their mark in various industries in Canada in their upcoming series.
Aptly coined, ‘Stories of Success’, the one-hour episodes air every Sunday at 6 pm, closely following the journey of well-known Canadians such as Steve Gupta, Surjit Barbra, Lata Pada, Pavi Binning and Carl Rodrigues, among others.
HP Canada’s President and CEO, Mary Ann Yule, tells The Canadian Bazaar why the tech giant is supporting the project:
Q: Why is HP Canada supporting this south Asian community project?
HP Canada is proud to be a presenting sponsor for this show, Stories of Success, which features the achievements and unique journeys of those who have made Canada their home but still carry the torch of other cultures from around the world.
From HP’s earliest days, the company recognized that the more points of view it can draw on, the better its products and company as a whole will be. A great example of this in action is our Board of Directors. HP has the most diverse Board of Directors of any technology company in the US (50 percent total minorities, 40 percent women, 30 percent underrepresented minorities). In Canada, we are proud to share that more than 60 percent of the senior leadership team is female.

As a sponsor, HP is not involved in the selection of guests for the show.
Q: Has HP been involved with any such events in the past vis-a-vis south Asians or Indo-Canadians? Does HP intend to get involved in more such projects in the future?
HP operates in over 170 countries worldwide, including countries across South Asia. We will continue to support these communities and others on our mission to create technology that makes life better for everyone, everywhere.
Q: Being the daughter of immigrants, how important is it for you personally to support such initiatives on immigrants?
Being the daughter of immigrants, supporting diversity and inclusion is a passion point of mine and part of how I bring my authentic-self to work every day at HP. Embracing diversity and inclusion is a critical part of our business and company culture.
More specifically, I want new Canadians to see themselves in my story and the journeys of others in the hopes that they inspire newcomers to believe that anything is possible. Doors will continue to open and more ceilings will be smashed with hard work, diverse role models and real tangible action from the business community.
A great example of how HP acts is by being diverse and inclusive when it comes to our Board of Directors. HP has the most diverse Board of Directors of any technology company in the US (50% total minorities, 40% women, 30% underrepresented minorities). In Canada, we are proud to share that more than 60% of the senior leadership team is female. If everyone does their part working towards making life better for everyone then the possibilities are endless.
