The Canadian Bazaar NEW DELHI: Amid Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (clean Indian movement), Indian Railways have been embarrassed by a video showing a vendor on a train using toilet water for making tea and coffee. The video of the vendor and two other persons coming out of a train toilet at Secunderabad railway station with large tea and coffee cans has gone viral on social media. The video was shot on the Chennai Central-Hyderabad Charminar Express in December 2017. After an inquiry, the railways has slapped a fine of Rs 100,000 on the vendor. In a press release, Indian Railways said, ``An inquiry was conducted, and on the basis of it stringent action has been taken up against the Train Side Vending contractor for the section between Secunderabad and Kazipet, P Sivaprasad, with whom the identified vendor in the video was employed. A penalty of Rs 1 lakh has been levied on the licensee...'' The vendor has been quoted as saying that toilet water was not used for making tea and coffee. Instead, what they were doing in the toilet - as shown in the video -was that they were transferring milk from one can to another which they couldn’t do in the open. The incident has caused a huge embarrassment to Indian Railways which recently announced to introduce the airline model of catering on select train routes of at least five to six hours.
