Pakistani Hindu girl Karishma Kumari tops pre-medical exams

News East West NEW DELHI: A Pakistani Hindu girl from a Karachi college has secured the first position in the just announced Intermediate pre-medical examination results. Karishma Kumari of DA Degree College for Women in Karachi’s Phase VIII topped the examination by scoring 999 marks out of 1,100. As many as 20,855 students appeared in the exams. The Board of Intermediate Education in Karachi (BIEK) has announced an award of Rs 50,000 for Kumari. The two girls who came second and third will get Rs 30,000 and Rs 20,000. “I believe only hard work can help you go further in life. I have never faced any discrimination in school or in my college life,’’ Express Tribune quoted Karishma Kumari as saying. The Hindu girl had also secured the third position in her matriculation exams. Daughter of a doctor in Karachi, Kumari says she too wants to become a gynaecologist.
