Punjabi man Sukhraj Singh Cheema arrested for killing his father in Hamilton

TORONTO: A Punjab-origin Indo-Canadian man has been arrested for the murder of his father in Stoney Creek In Hamilton city near here last week.

Hamilton Police arrested 22-year-old Sukhraj Singh Cheema in Toronto on Tuesday morning for first-degree murder of his father.

According to police in Hamilton, cops got an emergency call from a residence in the area of Stoney Creek just before 8 pm on Saturday. 

When police officers rushed to the spot, they found 56-year-old Kuldip Singh suffering from serious injuries. He was rushed to hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. 

The victim reportedly had an altercation with his son Sukhraj Singh Cheema who fled from the scene in a blue 2022 Ford Edge with a Quebec licence plate. 

After issuing an alert about Cheema, Hamilton Police arrested him from Toronto on Tuesday while he was driving his vehicle.

Cheema later appeared in court for his remand.
