NEW DELHI: Just as the late Zulfikar Ali Bhutto described Pakistan’s nuclear bomb as the Islamic bomb for the entire Muslim world, now Pakistan’s interior minister Sheikh Rasheed too has said something similar about Pakistan's first-ever victory over India in T20 World Cup in cricket.

Even as players of the two teams mingled after Pakistan beat India by 10 wickets in the T20 World Cup in Dubai on Sunday, the Pakistani minister posted a vitriolic video on Twitter, saying, “Pakistan’s triumph against India is a victory of Islam. All Muslims throughout the world are rejoicing. The sentiments of all Muslims, including those from India, were with Pakistani team."

Forgetting that Pakistan has never beaten India before in the T20 World Cup, the Pakistani minister said, "Today's match has a different level of excitement than any previous match in the World Cup."

But the most bigoted comment came from former Pakistani fast bowler Waqar Younis who said in a TV interview, "Sabse achhi baat joh Rizwan ne kee usne ground main khade ho kar nawaz padi joh ke Hinduon ke wich khade ho kar. (The best thing of the match was when batsman Rizwan said nawaz (prayer) on the pitch in the midst of Hindus (Indian players). That's very special)."

Even Prime Minister Imran Khan, who is in Saudi Arabia on an official visit, said, "I know after last night's thrashing by the Pakistan team in the cricket match, it's not a very good time to talk about improving relations with India.”

When these people in top positions in Pakistan talk madness, why blame hardliners in India for responding?

In another video circulating on social media showing Pakistani army men screaming and celebrating wildly.

Pakistan has lost to India 12 times in T20 World Cup since 2007 when India defeated them in the final.
