Transgenders in Pakistan abducted, gangraped and killed

News East West Armed men in Swabi district in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province abducted and gang-raped a transgender on Monday after killing two others in a pre-dawn incident, reports Dawn. The group of transgenders, who perform at birthday and wedding parties in Pakistan, was returning home after performing a music and dance show at a wedding party. Police said that when the transgender group was passing by a field in the early hours on Monday, they were pounced upon by some armed men hiding in a field. The armed men tried to abduct all the transgenders. When the transgenders resisted, the armed men opened fire killing one transgender and a drummer. They then abducted one transgender, took him to nearby fields, and gang-raped him for hours before releasing him. Police arrested six persons on charges of murder and gangrape. According to police, the arrested men were fond of the transgender and sexually drawn to them. For this reason, these men used to attend music and dance parties of this transgender group.
